Instructions: Cut a thin slice from bottom of melon with a sharp knife, to make a smooth base.
Mark a 1 1/2-inch strip down center of melon, crosswise, to middle of water- melon with a pencil. This will be the handle. Cut down, following pencil marking, with knife to center of melon. Starting at each end of melon, cut towards the center strip; remove pieces. Cut melon from strip with a paring knife and remove. Remove fruit from melon with baller to create a basket. Store melon balls in a bowl and re- frigerate. Wrap cut surfaces of melon with plastic and refrigerate until serving time. At party time, fill basket with the melon balls and other fruit of choice.
