1 x butter (or veg oil, or rendered steak fat trimmings, or cooking spray)
Instructions:
Instructions: Heat just enough butter in a heavy skillet to keep steak from sticking. (I usually just grab a stick and rub it over the bottom of the pan as it preheats). Quickly brown both sides of steak over medium high heat. Cover and reduce heat to low. Cook covered until steak is as done as you like it.

You didnt specify how done you like your steaks, but Im assuming you probably like them well done. This method will get steaks well-done without drying them out or turning them into old boots; its also good for pork chops.
