Instructions: Soak thel chick peas for a minimum of 6 hours.
Boil in their own volume of water and cook until tender (about 40 minutes). Strain. Fry onion in ghee until dark golden. Add spices tomato puree and ketchup. Cook on medium low heat for 5 minutes then add potatoes. Combine chick peas and vegetables and cook for further 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes carefully to avoid splitting them. Add salt to taste and a little water if necessary. Garnish with chillies and/or fresh coriander or parsley. Serves four Email this Recipe:
