Instructions: These are lovely with cheese and for me they help to make a cheese course at a dinner party into something a bit more special.
Preheat oven to gas mark 4 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Begin by putting the oats flour salt baking powder and sugar into a bowl and then rub in the margarine. In another small bowl mix together the egg and 1 tablespoon of milk with a fork then add sufficient of this mixture to bind the oat mixture to a dough (you probably wont need all of it). Now sprinkle a surface with some wholewheat flour and roll the dough to 3mm thick then using a 7cm plain cutter cut out the biscuits (because of the porridge oats youll need to give each one a very sharp tap to cut through it neatly). Then re roll the pastry trimmings using the egg/milk mixture to moisten if necessary. Bake the biscuits in the oven for 20-25 minutes. These store very well in an airtight tin.
