SHORTBREAD ----------------
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tbl unsalted butter
2/3 cup heavy cream
----------------- FRUIT ----------------
3 cup tawny port wine
2 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
2 tbl black peppercorns
1 stk cinnamon
1 cup halved dried figs
1 cup dried apricots
1/2 cup prunes
1/2 cup dried cherries
3 tbl pure vanilla extract

Instructions: Shortbread:
Preheat oven to 350 F. In a medium-sized bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients. Add the butter and mix together well. Stir in the cream.

Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake for 22 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool slightly. Cut into wedges.

Fruit:
In a large saucepan, combine the wine, water, sugar, peppercorns, and cinnamon stick and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir in all of the dried fruit and the vanilla and continue to simmer for 15 minutes, or until the fruit is tender.

Divide the warm fruit evenly on dessert plates. Place 1 wedge of the warm Shortbread on each plate and add 1 scoop of favorite ice cream. Serve immediately.
