Instructions: 1. Mix the butter and icing sugar until smooth and creamy then stir in the vanilla essence.
2. Sift the flour and custard powder together then add to the butter mixture, stirring very well to mix. Mix to a stiff dough. 3. Divide the dough into 24 pieces and roll each piece into a small ball. 4. Press each ball with a fork to flatten slightly. 5. Bake the dough balls at 180 c. for 15-20 minutes until pale golden but not brown. 6. Place the cookies on a wire rack to cool. 7. Make the icing: Sift the icing sugar then add the butter and warm water. Mix thoroughly to a thick and stiff icing. Add food colouring if you wish and stir well. 8. Spread 12 biscuits with a little icing then press a plain biscuit onto the icing, so that you have two biscuits together. Email this Recipe:
