Instructions: Mix gelatin and cold water and set aside.
Stir pumpkin mixture with wire whisk. Cook in double boiler or iron skillet about half an hour. Add gelatin; stir until dissolved. Set aside to cool. Beat egg whites until stiff and add sugar, salt and vanilla. Fold into cold pumpkin mixture. Pour mixture into baked pastry shell and garnish with walnut halves.
